Top 3 Summer Festival in Korea

It’s no doubt its the summer season now in Korea. Though people usually visit to beaches to cool themselves off during the hot season,  there is so much more that Korea can offer to its visitors if they were to visit in the summer season. Here are some famous summer festivals you will find in Korea, which I think you should take a look at.

1. Boryeong Mud Festival (July)

Boryeong Mud Festival is one of Korea’s largest and well known festival, probably to the world. This festival never fails to attracts the largest number of local and international visitors. During the festival, not only people came here to have fun, visitors from abroad flock to this area to also experience the beneficial properties the Boryeong mud can offer.

During this period, visitors can enjoy mud wrestling, mud sliding and even swimming in the mud pool. For those who feels hyper energetic can try the marine mud-training course, while those looking for something just to relax may go for the mud massage zone. In the evening, there are also music and fireworks on the beach.

 

2. Busan Sea Festival (Aug 1 ~ Aug 7)

The Busan Sea Festival was first held in 1996 to promote Busan to tourists. This festival takes place at the several beaches in Busan such as Haeundae Beach, Gwangalli Beach, Songdo Beach, Dadaepo Beach, Songjeong Beach, and few others.

It not only offers various cultural events and unique hands-on programs, since this is Korea’s first ocean festival, they included many exciting programs like the great opening ceremony, cultural performances, and other special events. With a total of 6 beaches holding the event, each of the beach has different programs and performances which is suitable for all ages.

 

3. Hwacheon Tomato Festival (Aug 4 ~ Aug 7)

The Hwacheon Tomato Festival is held annually. Due to the great response from both residents and visitors, this festival now is held 4 days long compared to only 3 days previously. This festival will be held in Sanae-myeon, Hawcheon-gun. It starts off with an opening ceremony and will be followed by pungmulnori (traditional performances), singing contest, unique exciting events. It even has various hands-on programs for you to try out!
