Korean Food : Good Korean Barbecue in Hongdae
I’d like to introduce you to one of my favourite Korean barbecue restaurants located just a few minutes walk from Kimchee Sinchon Guesthouse: Guiga.
So why is it so great you ask? You know how difficult it is to find just the right place when you are out traveling. Many places are either filled with nothing but empty seats, or you don’t know if it’s affordable, sometimes both.
Guiga is neither! Due to Guiga’s popularity it is rarely empty and even though it might look like any other BBQ restaurant in Hongdae, it has one small but important exception. By the entrance there is a big sign saying the meat starts at 4,900!
The menu isn’t written in the best English, but has pictures of the meat. The samgyeopsal (pork belly) is 4,900, which it says in big letters on the wall. Most of the portions served are enough for one person.
Furthermore, kimchi, lettuce, garlic and a few other side dishes may be served free of charge – magnificent. I would also recommend you try things from the rest of the menu – they are cheap, reasonable, and delicious.
The drinking menu shouldn’t be to difficult to understand either.
Enjoy!
