If you still think vegetarian food might be too plain and simple, better to try these options below before giving your judgement. Vegetarian food is usually delicious, nutritious and aesthetic because they are made of various kinds of colorful vegetables. Eating healthily or becoming a vegan is actually getting more popular in South Korea. Let’s dive into some good experiences of mine to get to know more about Seoulist vegan diets.

 

[PLANT – THE BEST VEGAN BURGER you could ever try]

 

If you are thinking vegan burgers taste like a veggie sandwich, you didn’t try this place yet. Having a diverse menu including burgers, salads, smoothies, curry and so on, this restaurant will blow your mind! The burger served with a huge plant patty made of many kinds of fresh and healthy ingredients, which melts and leaves a savory deliciousness on your tongue. My favorite chili cheese burger with tofu, bean chili, cashew-based cheese sauce, fried onions and sriracha aioli. This restaurant brings vegan burgers on a totally different level and make you want to come back for more. You can also order some fries as an extra to the dish which is also very fresh and yummy. You can also come with your friends to enjoy some coffee or healthy smoothies. Do not miss the Power Green Smoothie with banana, peanut butter, sprirulina, chia seed, soy milk and cacao nibs. Sounds super healthy right? And very tasty too! The restaurant is quite busy during dinner time so it is better to come a bit early if you want the food. And you won’t expect to sit and enjoy the chat with your friends as in other coffee shops since people would be waiting outside for their tables. The prices go from 13.000~16,000won but since the portion is big, it is quite reasonable. The restaurant is closed every Sunday.

 

 

 

[CLUB ZION – Experience Ethiopian vegetarian menu]

 

 

 If you want to try something new, Ethiopian food should be in your list. Ethiopia is not only famous for coffee but also their traditional bread named ‘injera’. The bread is a sourdough-risen flatbread made with teff flour. The main vegetarian dish there is Beye Ayenet, which has injera and chick peas, cabbage, beets, potato, carrots on top. The sauces go so well with the bread. Even without meat, this dish is very filling. Sometimes when you visit this club during lunch time on the weekend, you can also have a chance to observe Ethiopian traditional way of making coffee. In the evening, this place turns into a pub where you can hang out and play billards. The price for food starts from 12,000won.

[VEGAN COOKING – the art of temple food]

If food is not enough for you, you can totally experience the whole process of making the food and learn some recipes for yourself at Korean Temple Food Culture Experience Center. As we know about it, temple food is also vegetarian food since people, especially monks, who have Buddhism as their religion, cannot eat meat. Korean brought temple food into the next level with many colors, seasonal recipes and fresh ingredients. At this center, you can join a cooking class taught by the monks and enjoy the food you made after. There are several classes with various kinds of menu for you to choose every day. The fee would be 10,000won for 2-hour class and the class will only be held when there are over 6 participants. You can check the schedules and make reservations on their website. Temple food is more pure and noble. You can also try the tea ceremony and lantern making class as the whole package of experience.
